RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – Continuing its Original Equipment momentum as well as its relationship with Mazda North American Operations, Falken Tires, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan, will provide its rugged crossover-specific tire, the Wildpeak A/T Trail, size 225/60R18, with a 100H speed rating, to the first-ever 2023 Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition model.
Sales of the new vehicle begin this Fall. The Wildpeak A/T Trail will be exclusive to the Meridian Edition.
The Wildpeak A/T Trail is built for adventure, delivering rugged off-road capability without compromise on the open road. Engineered to match the dynamic characteristics of the modern crossover SUV as developed in the CX-50, the A/T Trail strikes the perfect balance between aggressive off-road traction and dependable, all-weather performance. Durable 2-ply polyester construction and rugged upper sidewall features protect the A/T Trail from off-road terrain, while an optimized tread design helps to maintain the efficiency and versatility that is found in the CX-50 Meridian Edition.
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is an all-new model from the manufacturer and has attracted significant attention due to its rugged style and cargo space optimized for rear seat comfort and loading more outdoor equipment. The CX-50 will offer more off-road and towing capabilities – up to 3,500 pounds with the turbo motor – to those seeking more adventure without giving up the smooth-riding and sporty qualities for which Mazda is known.
The Meridian Edition is part of the CX-50 Turbo line-up and includes Mazda’s standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive system, with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Wildpeak A/T Trail tires, and features two exterior paint color options with unique hood graphics. Mazda also indicated an available Apex Package that will add roof-mounted crossbars, a roof platform, and additional outdoor accessories.
Rated highly among automotive enthusiast publications, the Mazda CX-50 is slated to become the perfect, engaging choice for comfort on the trails and to experience great handling and sportscar-accurate steering, all part of the new approach to adventuring.
“As Mazda seeks to build a stronger relationship with customers who want an aggressive and authentic crossover that can take them down trails to campsites and riverbeds, the logical tire to partner with is Falken’s Wildpeak A/T Trail,” stated Cliff Stewart, Director, Original Equipment Sales, Falken Tires.
“We’re very pleased to continue our strong relationship with Mazda, where we also supply OE tires to the CX-9 and MX-30 EV,” Stewart added, “and appreciate the key points noted upon our selection – the Wildpeak A/T Trail’s sidewall design and meeting all of Mazda’s demanding engineering standards. This is an exciting time for Mazda as it launches a new model in North America and we’re delighted to be along for the ride.”
