Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have recently established a new Long-Term Sustainability Policy: “Driving Our Future Challenge 2050.” Taking its name from the Slogan of Our Philosophy: “Rubber and Beyond, Driving Our Future,” this new policy reflects our strong commitment to working to create a brighter future for all as espoused in our new corporate philosophy framework.
When the Sumitomo Rubber Group announced our new Midterm Plan for the coming years (through 2025) in February 2020, we identified “Promoting ESG Management” as one of the key Value Drivers that would propel our group toward the accomplishment of our goals. And so, we have pledged to redouble our efforts to contribute to the solution of various environmental and social issues toward creating a more sustainable society throughout all of our business activities.
In light accelerating climate change and other major shifts in the most pressing issues that society faces today, the Sumitomo Rubber Group came to the conclusion that a new policy, one based on long-term perspectives that could foresee the world of 2050, would be essential to the sustained growth and development of both our group and society as a whole. Having reached this conclusion, we set about formulating the new policy that would become “Driving Our Future Challenge 2050.”
As part of “Driving Our Future Challenge 2050,” the Sumitomo Rubber Group has set forth the following “2050 Challenge Target Themes” and specific Action Plans so that we may contribute to the solution of various social issues in terms of Environment, Social and Governance.
